Eldercare

Eldercare is a journey. The first step is gathering information.

Aging is a fast-growing trend! However, the process of aging brings many issues that can be overwhelming to both individuals and their families/caregivers, especially when a crisis hits. Navigating through the multitude of options and complexities that can come with life changes related to an illness or aging can be confusing, overwhelming, and very emotional.
As an Elder Planning Counselor (EPC) I endeavour to provide age friendly services, which means understanding the age-related needs of older individuals, being respectful & compassionate to older individuals and helping to protect those who are vulnerable. I am happy to serve older individuals & their families/caregivers by helping them make clear and informed decisions around later life options and their finances by incorporating health and lifestyle factors into the process.
The kind of financial planning challenges facing someone 65+ is different from those who are younger who are focussing on accumulating assets, funding education or debt repayment. For an older individual, a financial and estate planning review seeks to help provide guidance relating to lifestyle funding, securing future income streams, managing spending (including health care), tax minimization strategies and estate planning/organizing. Sometimes the options to deal with a life change might include the selling of a much-loved family home or the consideration of elder care options that might be required.
Whatever the situation, if you are not sure about the next step or even the first step and looking for guidance for yourself or as a caregiver for a loved one, I hope the resources here may help make the aging and caregiving journey a little smoother. But don’t hesitate to get in touch to see if I can assist.
